CONDITIONING
Against damage to the goods contained due to risks that are inherent to handling with mechanical means, long-distance transport and storage exposed to the elements.
Physical-chemical: Against the effects of water, steam, saline air, dust, temperature, sunbeams, micro organisms, electrical charges, etc. (alone or combined).
Mechanical: Against the effects of acceleration, vibration, collision or compression (alone or combined).

FOR EXTERIOR PACKING
Waterproofing (inner lining) of the body and lid against humidity, dampness from rainwater, contaminating dust, pulverized salt deposits, sunbeams.
Inner reinforcement (support, sheathing) of the body, lid and bottom against vertical and lateral crushing due to compression.
Outer reinforcement (angle steels, plates) of long, upper horizontal edges against lateral crushing due to compression, or wear due to abrasion.
 
Drain holes at the bottom against the build-up of rainwater, seawater or due to infiltration from a flooded hold.
Grilles for body ventilation against condensation, “sweating” goods or the stagnation of harmful gases.
Peepholes in the body to control humidity.
