Automotive packaging: What you need to know.

In the automotive industry, the parts go through different phases of transport, this implies that the merchandise can suffer blows or erosion. That is why it is vitally important to choose a good industrial automotive packaging so that the merchandise arrives without damage, thus avoiding large losses and improving the cost of production.
What main function does automotive packaging have?

The main function of the packaging is to protect the different pieces or spare parts sent in the automotive sector. Many times it is common to have to make shipments to other assembly plants in charge of continuing production by assembling the parts. For this reason, we must use suitable packaging for the automotive industry and thus guarantee that the product is packed correctly in order to guarantee its quality and avoid setbacks in production.

What types of packaging can we choose?

There is no single type of packaging that is perfect, due to the different sizes and types of parts that exist in the automotive sector, it is common to find the use of custom-made automotive packaging in order to adapt to the needs of each shipment. Even so, we have different types and materials and types of packaging to choose from to send our pieces safely:
  • CDK: o Complete Knock Down is a type of packaging that consolidates and stores all the parts we need to be able to assemble the car so that we can later send it to other factories so that they can be assembled on an assembly line.

  • MKD: or Medium Knocked Down are packaging used for shipping unfinished bodies that may or may not be equipped with pre-assembled parts and components. They are often shipped to plants where the assembly process has not yet started.

  • SKD: or Semi Knocked Down is a type of packaging in which we pack disassembled parts so that they can be reassembled in other assembly plants. There are times when a kit is shipped with the car body coated or painted for further assembly at other plants.

In all of them it is a wooden cage reinforced by metal or plastic at its corners, made to measure for the piece or pieces to be transported, in addition, it is foldable and easily stackable, thus saving and optimizing space in the warehouse.

What is the packaging that suits me?

To decide which is the type of packaging that best suits our needs, we must take into account the approvals in the sector. Although there are certain approvals and standards, it is the brand with which we work that has its own sizes and standards for the packaging of its products.

At Embalex, we believe that the best option is usually to opt for tailor-made automotive packaging , as it adapts perfectly to the needs of each client, fulfilling their needs and objectives.

NIMF-15 regulation for heat treatment of wood in foreign trade
Heat treatment of wood
The heat treatment of wood is a critical process used to eliminate pests and diseases, as well as to comply with international regulations governing the trade of wood abroad. The NIMF-15 standard, in particular, establishes the requirements for the heat treatment of wood used in packaging used in international trade.

In this sense, heat sealing for wood packaging is an effective technique to ensure that these regulations are met. By using this technique, the risk of pests and diseases entering the destination country is avoided, which could lead to serious economic and environmental consequences.
It is important to mention that heat sealing for wood packaging is a process that must be carried out by trained professionals and with the appropriate machinery to guarantee its correct application.
